I discovered slacklining about 3 years ago from a juggler friend of mine, the 5 centimeters wide and 10 meters long ones (I am from Europe). I tried, I failed, I didn't dig it so much and forgot about it.
A year ago, I saw a guy longlining about 100 meters long, on a 2.5 centimeters wide webbing. He looked like he was doing something halfway between flying and surfing... It was beautiful! I remember that I thought: "I want to be there, and feel what he feels, it looks amazing."
Then I started to watch videos on the internet, I found out there was slacklines, tricklines, longlines, waterlines, highlines... That some people walk on these, or play doing tricks, or medidate doing yoga, and more.
About 6 month ago I bought my first gear: 35 meters of polyester with primitiv tensioning. That's how everything started.
At the moment I am writing this testimony, I just get back from my first highline festival, where I tried highlining for the first time. I sent a 17 meters long line in nylon, with a soft exposure (about 50 meters high) and it felt amazing! I am so stoked, I can't wait to get back on a highline again, eventhough I got bruises on my thighs!
Since I started slacklining 6 month ago, I go practice at least a couple sessions a week, sometimes I go everyday.
It made me quit smoking, spend more time outdoor, be fiter and healthier, meet new friends and people for foreign countries... Each time I'm on the line I feel so alive, and each time I "unlock" a new skill it brings me a ton of satisfaction and real joy.
I also love the slacklining community, so loving, helping and sharing. It warms my heart, stokes me up, makes me want to get better everyday, and not just at slacklining, at everything, at life.
I am happy I met the slacklife, and I am happy I met you guys.
